De FD app

The app of Het Financieele Dagblad is designed to serve tens of thousands of business readers daily via mobile and tablet. The app includes a newsfeed with the latest articles from the FD editorial team and features to share and save articles. Naturally, live stock market quotes also have a prominent place. Additionally, the paper version of the newspaper is available in digital form through the app. Of course, everything is in the recognizable FD pink.

Own team

The current app of Het Financieele Dagblad was largely developed “in-house” by a team of developers who have mastered iOS and Android on their own. It’s an impressive achievement, as the app works well and is appreciated by users!

The role of Pinch

FD asked Pinch to collaborate on the app to accelerate the development by adding some key functionalities. Additionally, with the experience that Pinch has accumulated with news apps, they were tasked with identifying (technical) improvement opportunities for the future and further strengthening the FD team.

Lessons learned

Pinch has been developing news apps since 2011. This extensive experience is very beneficial for Het Financieele Dagblad. Over time, Pinch has also developed several reusable modules, such as Pinch Reader, Pinch Player, and Pinch Perfect. This makes collaborating with Pinch appealing for many media companies.
