GoHere

Travel tips for and by friends

There is no shortage of travel guides and city apps. What really yields good travel experience tips? Information from friends, acquaintances and people you trust. With the app from Pinch subsidiary GoHere, users can share and rate the best places with each other.  To date, more than twenty white label variants of the app have now been made, which are used by companies such as Transavia, Ciao Tutti and Wegozero.

Exchange travel tips with friends and acquaintances

We are all familiar with Tripadvisor and Google Maps. But what is the value of reviews from strangers? Pinch’s subsidiary GoHere has therefore launched an app that allows friends and other acquaintances to easily exchange travel tips with the idea that such an app also helps to build a community. GoHere is now much more than just a B2C app.  The app has become a popular white label travel app for other brands.

The ideal – and social – travel guide

GoHere is the ideal and especially social guide for when you travel. On a map you see all kinds of icons with tips, from restaurants and hotels to tourist attractions. Users can share tips, by adding a category, a review and photos. The activity screen is a kind of feed where you as an administrator can also place information, advertisements and social posts. Within the app it is possible to filter by activities and save your own favorites.

GoHere is constantly adding new features to the app and therefore also to the related white label apps. A good example is that as a user you can now easily share ‘bucket lists’, so you no longer have to email or text lists of best tips or recommendations to each other.

GoHere, but in its own jacket

Together with Transavia, GoHere already understood around the kick-off that the app would lend itself perfectly to white labels. Transavia Tips, in which pilots and flight attendants share their tips for Transavia destinations, became the first white label version of the app. In addition to being an investor, the airline also immediately became the launching customer.

What does white label mean? This means that several apps share one codebase and therefore the same functionalities, but each having their own look. The same applies to the white label apps from GoHere. Organizations such as city marketing agencies, travel agencies, cruise lines and travel communities can each have a fully-fledged app for a relatively low price that is completely customized for them in terms of branding and content.

White label for a golden edge

Partly due to the corona crisis, the app went live just before the first lockdown. It proved difficult to generate sufficient critical mass to make GoHere a success in its own right. However, by applying the white label architecture, this turned out to be a golden, successful move, given the large number of white label variants that already exist. These include Transavia Tips and travel sites Ciao Tutti, BarcelonaTips and VVV Terschelling.

The latest development via an SDK, other apps can add GoHere as a functionality in their existing app, so that they do not have to launch a separate app.

Winding journey

Many well-known apps have pivoted to get where they are today. GoHere’s journey was also winding as its own brand as it turned out to be difficult to really break through. However, as a white label app, numerous companies have found the model offers a very interesting and value-adding use case.
